Body of Orland man found dumped in Colusa County wilderness

Brandon Dawson

An Orland man suspected of armed robbery in February was found dead on April 19 in the Colusa County wilderness.

Brandon Dawson, 26, had last been seen on the morning of March 8 and was reported missing under suspicious circumstances by his mother and girlfriend two days later, according to a Glenn County Sheriff's Department news release.

Family members told detectives Dawson had been involved in a dispute over illegal drugs.

The investigation was elevated to a homicide after tips revealed that his body had been dumped in the Colusa County woods.

Following a search in Lake and Colusa counties, “cadaver dogs located human remains in the area of Walker Ridge in Colusa County,” Glenn County Sheriff Richard Warren said in a news release.

Police said they think that Dawson was killed on or after March 8.

In February, Dawson was the focus of a robbery investigation in Coos Bay, Oregon.

The Glenn County Sheriff's Department suspects illegal drugs as the motive behind the killing.
