An Oroville man will
serve 11 years at a state prison for committing a crime three days after being
released from jail.
On Jan. 9, Joshua
Jackson was discharged from Butte County Jail and sent to Jordan Crossing
Ministries. The sober living shelter housed Jackson until Jan. 12.
He stabbed his sleeping
roommate four times that morning with a kitchen knife. Police arrested Jackson
later in the day.
The victim had a
puncture wound in his back and scratches on his shin and arm.
The 11-year sentence is
a combination of three charges: an assault with a deadly weapon, felony
committed while released from custody and prior conviction as a prior felony.
Jackson was convicted of
the first felony last October.
On June 27, 2018, he
threw a sickle at a man who lived in the same neighborhood from about 20 feet
away. It hit him on the left side of the head and caused arterial bleeding.
Police arrested Jackson and found the sickle,
two concealed knives and an opium pipe on him.
The victim, Gary Seward,
reported that Jackson had been carrying the sickle around for multiple days
prior.
Seward said Jackson
would hold the sickle and chant, “Just cut his head, we can stay forever, my
mom said so.”
According to Jackson’s
court case file, his record shows a pattern of violence against people.
