A Magalia man was sentenced March 30 to a total of 21 years in prison for rape of minor.

Brett Alyn Hawkins, 39, was charged Jan. 9 with 21 counts of sexual abuse of a minor, according to police reports.

A probable cause warrant was issued for Hawkins’ arrest in Magalia, where he had been living for the past six years with his sister, son and daughter.

Butte County District Attorney investigators charged him with 10 cases of sexual misconduct with a minor, according to court records. The incidents occurred between April 2016 and August 2018.

Hawkins pleaded guilty to four of the charges against him on Jan. 30.

Judge Jesus A. Rodriguez sentenced Hawkins to serve his sentence in state prison.

A no-bail hold request was set at $750,000 with no chance of parole due to risk to the victim.
