Chico Unified receives over $300,000 from Camp Fire insurance claims


Chico Unified School District has received more than $300,000 from insurance claims related to the Camp Fire to help clean campuses and repurchase items lost or destroyed.

Kevin Bultema, assistant superintendent of business services, explained to the school board Wednesday night that the district has received $382,405 from the insurance payments. This money will be used to replace damaged textbooks, electronics, and any building repair that needed to happen from the Camp Fire, he said.

The school that received the largest amount of insurance money was Forest Ranch Charter School, which received more than $129,000. The district office received $44,000.
