One man stabbed at night, another in the morning

Police say James Jacobs hid in a shed before being arrested.

A Chico man was arrested and booked on two counts of attempted homicide last week after being identified as the suspect behind two separate stabbings.

According to a Chico Police Department news release, James Jacobs, a 33-year-old transient, was arrested March 5 based on information provided by multiple witnesses and evidence found at the scene.

At 10:10 p.m. the night before, police received a report of a stabbing at an apartment complex in the 700 block of Nord Avenue.

They found a man suffering from multiple stab wounds in his upper body. He was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The following morning, while searching for evidence, detectives were called to another stabbing in the same apartment complex.

Witnesses reported that the suspect was running toward Stewart Avenue.

Police conducted a search around the building and discovered another male victim with a stab wound to his stomach.

After police determined Jacobs was hiding in the shed of a home on Stewart Avenue, he came out voluntarily and was taken into custody.

Both victims remain in the hospital in stable condition, according to the Chico Police Department news release.
