Kidnapping Attempt in Gridley


A man attempted to kidnap a woman on Oct. 29 on Highway 99 in Gridley by grabbing her by the arms and trying to drag her into his truck, acccording to the Butte County sheriff's office. 

Brianne Gorospe, 20, told deputies she pulled into an orchard off Highway 99 to check the air pressure in her tires when an unidentified man pulled up behind her. The man asked if Gorospe needed any help. When she declined, the man grabbed her and began to try and pull her back toward his truck, according to a news release from the Butte County Sheriff’s Office.

Gorospe fought off the man and drove away in her vehicle with the door still open. The man got back into his truck and drove off toward Live Oak.

Authorities are looking for a white man between 50-60 years old with salt-and-pepper colored, short, curly hair, a brown mustache and sores on his face. He was wearing was a black shirt with writing on it and baseball pajama pants. 

The suspect’s truck is described as a cream-color early '90s Toyota pickup truck with a dent in the tailgate.
