Chico man charged with kidnapping at Chico High


A Chico man has pleaded not guilty to charges of kidnapping a 16-year-old female student at Chico High School.

Brandon Chin, 20, 1872 Devonshire Dr. in Chico, was arrested about 9 a.m. on Oct. 20 by Chico police.

According to the complaint from Butte County Superior Court, Chin and the girl were in a relationship before the incident.

At the time of the arrest, he was charged with domestic violence, kidnapping, violating probation and child endangerment, according to a pretrial review.

Chin is being charged with felony kidnapping and felony domestic violence. He was arraigned on Oct. 23.

The victim’s name is being withheld because she is a minor, police said.

Chin’s bail is set at $153,000. A preliminary hearing in the case took place Nov. 8.
