Palermo man wanted in connection with illegal guns

Anthony Hatcher

The Butte County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a man it suspects is connected with illegal and stolen firearms.

Deputies searched a fifth-wheel trailer in the 200 block of Refuge Avenue in Palermo Oct. 4, finding body armor, silencers and 20 firearms—two of which were stolen.

A Mac 10 and an AK 47, which are illegal to own in California, were among the guns found.

Deputies find guns in fifth-wheel trailer.

Anthony Hatcher, 44, is suspected to be the occupant of the fifth-wheel trailer.

According to a news release from the Butte County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a report of a man attempting to gain access to a residence in Palermo at 10:30 p.m.

Deputies believe Hatcher was the individual trying to gain access to the residence.

After investigating the scene, they obtained a warrant to search an adjacent property—the fifth-wheel trailer and a boat.

Deputies seized the weapons and equipment they found and discovered that Hatcher had been occupying the trailer, but he was not present during the investigation and is still at large.

The Butte County Sheriff’s Office has encouraged the public to report any information on Hatcher’s whereabouts. He is considered armed and dangerous.
