Family sues hospital over mother's death

Superior Court of California, North Butte County

A jury trial has been set for February in the case of  a woman who died at Oroville Hospital in February 2016. Her family claims that neglect and abuse on the part of employees of the two businesses resulted in her death.

Oroville Hospital and Golden Valley Home and Health are denying all allegations made against them, saying they're not liable in Eyvon Ambrose’s death.

In its suit, the family alleges that, while under the care of the two medical facilities, Ambrose was neglected and mistreated by nurses and staff.
They claim employees of Golden Valley Home and Health noticed a large wound that seemed to be infected and quickly spreading on Eyvon but failed to assess her correctly and suggest a transport to Oroville Hospital to address the issue.
The family also alleges that doctors knew how fragile Eyvon Ambrose was and that she needed extra care to address her wounds. Their failure, the suit argues, allowed Ambrose to get worse over time.
