Restaurant recognized for $100,000 gift to schools

Jack Sterling, co-owner of Mom's, receives a plaque from board members for donating $100,000 to local schools.

Mom’s, a downtown Chico restaurant, was presented with a plaque Wednesday during the Chico school board’s monthly meeting for donating more than $100,000 to local schools.

Mom’s designates a percentage of its revenue for donations to the school district, said Jack Sterling, a co-owner of the restaurant. Total donations reached $100,000 this past month, resulting in the presentation Tuesday night.

“Education means the world to us,” Sterling told the board.

Board members also thanked two other local businesses, Deer Creek Broadcasting and Tri Counties Bank, for their donations to the school district.
