Police find heroin, guns, ammunition in hotel raid

Christopher James Fox is being held without bail at the Butte County Jail.

An interagency narcotics task force has arrested a man on multiple counts of possession after finding over $2,000 in cash, suspected heroin, and an AK-47 in a Chico motel room, according to a news release.

Christopher James Fox, 25, was arrested after the Butte Interagency Narcotics Task Force raided a room at the Matador Motel on Nov. 2. He was booked at 10 p.m., according to Butte County’s booking logs.

At the motel, agents searched Fox’s room and vehicles. They found six semi-automatic rifles — including an AK-47 — over an ounce of what they suspect is heroin, items used for the sale of heroin, several thousand rounds of ammunition and two mountain bikes. One of the bikes was previously reported stolen, according to the release.
Fox is a convicted felon. He was on supervised probation in Butte County.
Fox was arrested on multiple counts including:
• possession for sale of heroin
• possession of an assault rifle
• possession of a firearm by a felon
• felon in possession of ammunition
• possession of stolen property valued at over $950.
The $2,224 cash was believed to be profits from drug sales. Fox is currently being held without bail at the Butte County Jail.

The Butte County Sheriff’s Office, the Butte Interagency Narcotics Task Force, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives have not responded to interview requests about the arrest.
