Suspect charged with intent to commit rape and burglary

Chico Police arrested a Chico man after he burglarized the residence of two women and attempting to sexually assault another on Oct.5.


The man identified as 26 year-old Ryan Davis of 1220 Warner Street and was charged with two counts of assault with intent to commit rape and two counts burglary.


Chico Police had responded to a report from a woman who stated that she had been followed on her way home at 4:19 p.m. at  the 1200 block of Warner Street. Patrol units in the area conducted a search but were unable to locate the subject and the victim had made it home safely.


Almost two hours later, Chico Police received another report about a suspicious person with the same description. He had followed a woman home and entered the victim’s residence. The victim and her roommate were able to force the man to leave and called the police shortly after.


While patrol officers spoke to the second victim, a police dispatcher received a call with the possibly of the same man that now had entered the apartment of another woman and attempted to sexually assault her.


Patrol responded to the scene and located the man fleeing the area on a bicycle.


A brief chase ensued and the suspect was detained without incident.
