Board of Supervisors approve new funding program

The Butte County Board of Supervisors meeting on Tuesday morning.

The Butte County Board of Supervisors approved participation in new funding program for local businesses in a meeting Tuesday morning.

Butte County deputy administrative officer Jennifer McCarthy says that the Statewide Community Infrastructure Program will help local businesses find tax-exempt funding from the state for future development.

“It’s really a turn-key means to offer competitive financing,” said McCarthy. “It will assist businesses to move forward in the county.”

Consequently, the program will support aspects such as public roads and sewage systems with successful businesses and future development.

Commercial, industrial and residential entities are eligible for the bond program. Funding amounts can fluctuate from $50,000 to $40 million.

“This is another tool in our tool box to show Butte County is open for business,”said McCarthy.
