Board hears from students on 6th grade switch

On Wednesday night, the Chico School Board heard from students who are the first sixth graders to attend local junior high schools.
Board members asked the students several questions about their arrival and if they feel welcomed in their new schools.
Sixth grader student Maddie H. said, “Yeah, it was really cool. I memorized my classes. The eighth graders are nice and the seventh graders are really nice as well.”
In October 2013, the Chico Unified School District board of trustees voted to move sixth graders out of the elementary school campuses and into the Chico, Bidwell and Marsh junior high schools. This 2016, we see this plan in action as students continue to feel comfortable in their new schools.
