Is Wearing a Sombrero Offensive?

Chico State students were interviewed on Cesar Chavez Day for their input.

Chico has been a popular spot for many years to celebrate Cesar Chavez Day, a day of remembrance for the Mexican-American civil rights activist who advocated for fair labor laws.

In Chico, students have taken advantage of the state holiday to party throughout the weekend, some even during the week leading up to it. Many students dress up in sombreros or ponchos as they day drink, which some consider offensive to the culture.

I interviewed Chico State students to get their input on Chavez Day and how it is celebrated in our town.
