In what has become an annual event, Chico celebrated Cesar Chavez Day with several arrests and calls for paramedic assistance.
Although these incidents have become a normal occurrence, the activity Thursday was less compared to previous years.
Last year the Chico Police Department made 19 arrests during the celebrations. This year the number seems to be lower with more calls for paramedic assistance.
This marks the second year in a row that the CPD has been able to control the celebrations, however the day was not without incidents.
Several people required paramedic assistance for alcohol overdoses throughout the day.

A car accident on Highway 99 and Gaia Way set off a chain reaction of events. Police said the woman driving did not notice the slowed traffic when she hit the car in front of her.
Officers also had responded to several noise complaints around the city due to the numbers of parties going on. There were calls of intoxicated people running into the streets, but no accidents to report.
