Driver arrested after alleged assault and hit-and-run

A car involved in a hit-and-run was recovered near the Sol Mexican restaurant on Esplanade.
A Chico man has been arrested in connection with a hit-and-run earlier this month in North Chico.
James Rose, 48, was identified by a witness and was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon, hit-and-run, and driving under the influence, authorities said.
According to a police report:
A grey Chevy Silverado hit a parked car in the Aurora Glenn subdivision in North Chico about 1 a.m. on Dec. 1 and then proceeded to strike six other parked cars in the same area.
The driver “then turned on the witness when he noticed that he was being followed and tried to hit him.” The witness claims he was not hit because he was able to get out of the way in time.
The driver fled the scene. The Silverado was later found by the California Highway Patrol abandoned behind the Sol Mexican restaurant on the Esplanade
Rose was arrested after he was seen running toward the PDQ Market at Eaton Road and the Esplanade.
Owners of the vehicles damaged are being contacted, but anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to contact the Chico Police Department at 530-897-4910.
