Randall Stone was elected mayor at the Dec. 4 Chico City Council meeting.
Council members Stone and Karl Ory were both nominated for mayor. Stone won with five votes, one more than the four needed to win.
The only candidate nominated for vice mayor, Alex Brown, also was elected by the council, winning six of seven votes, with Sean Morgan opposed.
Both candidates were sworn into their two-year positions at the meeting.
Two other candidates were sworn in for the start of their two-year terms, Scott Huber and Kasey Reynolds.
