Tim Craniss explains Chico's scores on state tests. |
Teachers and principals met with the Chico School Board Wednesday to review state and district student assessment data.
The goal of the workshop was to discuss ways to improve scores on state tests across all grade levels, specifically third grade. Students are tested on their English, writing, math, science and listening skills.
The data showed that Chico schools were below the California average but are improving from year to year.
Faculty members offered ideas of how to improve the district’s scores overall, including adding an intervention period into the school-day schedule.
“This is what we do all year long. We want our kids to achieve and get better,” said Tim Craniss, an educational services member.
The next board meeting is scheduled for Nov. 14. at 6 p.m in the district office conference room.
