Task Force Chairman Randall Stone and Secretary Sherisse Allen discuss problems and possible solutions for homelessness and mental health problems in Chico. |
The purpose of the survey is to inform the City Council and members of the task force of the current issues the public continues to face since the current 10-year strategy to address homelessness was implemented in 2014.
The group decided to use an online survey instead of the planned vote due to the overwhelming responses from those at this week's meeting.
Secretary Sherisse Allen also told the roughly 40 people in attendance that an affirmative vote for Proposition 2 on the November ballot would allow California to issue bonds for mental housing and homelessness through the Mental Health Service Act.
While the vote will be going on the ballot in November regardless of the online vote, Allen and the rest of the Chico City Council hope to get information specific to the city from the survey.
“It’ll be nice to have a Chico report, not just a Butte County report,” Allen said.
While the Survey Monkey survey has yet to be posted on the buttehomelesscoc.com website, the 10-year strategy can be found here.
