Suspected arson in the Lindo Channel

Four suspicious fires were reported last month near Lindo Channel.

Authorities are still investigating a string of fires that occurred late last month near Lindo Channel in Chico.

Firefighters were first called to investigate a brush fire near Manzanita Avenue at 11:20 p.m. on April 26. Authorities were alerted of two trash fires and a dumpster fire nearby.

Anita Fitzgerald, who has lived in a development on East Lindo Avenue for 12 years, said she had not witnessed acts of arson in the channel before.

“I saw firefighters going by and I could hear them near us. They made several trips here and I stayed up to find out what was going on,” Fitzgerald said.

No one was injured in the fires.

Firefighters were able to prevent damage to the surrounding areas. No one was apprehended for the fires.
