Contracts awarded for Paradise road projects

Road renovation plans in Paradise will move forward after the Town Council agreed Tuesday night on a contractor.

Two work contracts for the Pearson Road renovation and a road rehabilitation project were awarded to Knife River Construction and VSS International, respectively. The companies were awarded the contracts by submitting the low bids of $1.12 million and  $367,000, and for being willing to work at night.

Following the upgrades, the roads should remain safe to drive on for the next seven-to-10 years, according to the company. Pearson Road in particular will be  widened and have bike lanes installed, in addition to the resurfacing.

Work on the Pearson project is scheduled to begin in June.
